With each season, it’s important to remember to keep an eye on your rental home to ensure major maintenance issues are avoided with these Summer Maintenance Tips.

California Leasing Property Management offers the following tips to keep your home and yard in tip-top shape this summer. Everything from the air-conditioner to ensuring your yard is on-point this summer and well into the fall, you’ll be on target and avoid costly repairs and maintenance.

Check detectors. Mark your calendars and set reminders to check your rental home’s smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they’re working properly. Twice a year, run a test of the batteries and make certain they are doing their job.

Inspect air-conditioners. If you haven’t already, prep air conditioners and fans for their busiest season by checking your air filters and replacing them with clean and fresh ones. Check with our team, and we can recommend one of our professional vendors to assist with maintenance.

Take the time to clean even your ceiling fans. Using a damp rag and step stool or one of the handy extenders, get all the grime from your fan to ensure you’re not circulating dusty air.

Inspect your outdoor spaces. Decks and porches might need a quick power wash, and inspection for any exposed nails, areas that require resealing.

Wash your windows. If you didn’t tackle exterior window washing in the spring, now’s the time to get your glass clean.

Check for outdoor and indoors leaks. Check your hoses, under the sinks and exterior faucets for leaks. Leaving even a tiny drip can add up to a big waste of water and cost a lot of money!

Plan your watering schedule. Living here in north Los Angeles County, it’s important to train your garden! Check with your local water agency, for tips and ideas on the best ways to water and conserve.
